Do You Have A Back Problem Or A Health Problem?

Chiropractic care is unfortunately seen as synonymous with back pain.  While we do help with musculoskeletal back pain, you are missing the BIG picture if you only come in for back pain.  The BIG picture is understanding the central nerve system (CNS).  Chiropractic care is strictly focusing on establishing optimal potential with the CNS in your own body.

I Do Not Have Back Pain, BUT I Am Chronically Sick

This is obliviously a health problem that is attributed to your immune system.  Guess what?  Your immune system is controlled, regulated, and was even made by your CNS.  Guess what again?  Your CNS is housed and protected via your spinal bones and skull, which just so happens to be also called your BACK.  There are people out there who are chronically sick and do not have “back pain”.  It does not matter, the back pain is irrelevant.  If you are chronically sick, your CNS is failing to control and properly regulate the immune system.

A Back Problem Is a Health Problem

A subluxation creates tension and chronic irritation to a spinal nerve thus disrupting the brain to body connection.  Subluxations can cause symptoms such as allergies and GI issues that will eventually damage your organs.  Is pain present when a subluxation first occurs?  No.  Pain is the last symptom you will “feel” and it will be the first symptom to disappear.  This is why when people only visit a chiropractor for pain, they will only get temporary relief.  Basically a band-aid.  In order to address the health problem, you need to address the health of the BACK via the spine.  Specific chiropractic adjustments provide motion and stability via the spine.  The spine provides nourishment to the CNS.  Everything in the human body is designed for motion. You have probably heard people say that once you start seeing a chiropractor you have to keep coming back. Or that chiropractic is addictive.  While these statements are not factual, they do have some merit when in the proper context. When you understand how the body operates and was designed, being healthy becomes simple.

Being Healthy Is Addictive

Chiropractic is addictive or being healthy is addictive?  One is in the same.  Chiropractic is the study of life and what continues to make man live and be HEALTHY.  So, let’s break chiropractic down into general principles.  Chiropractic does not remove anything from your body (surgery), it does not add anything to your body (pills), it does not perform external interventions (lasers, lotions, potions, etc.).  After eliminating all extraneous “stuff”, chiropractic sounds pretty basic in this day and age of health trends.  Where does the addiction come from?  It comes from choice.

Adapting Is Addictive

When you understand that the human body is designed to adapt and heal itself, health becomes addictive. Why would you want to take, consume, or limit your body from what it actually needs?  Where does adapting come from? It comes from within your body, or it is innately given.  Innate intelligence – the mission of innate intelligence is to maintain the material of the body of a “living thing” in active organization – Chiropractic Text Book.

Living Through The Inside

The inside for this matter is the brain and spinal cord (collectively called the central nerve system, or CNS).  What is the importance of the CNS?  It made every organ, cell, tissue, and material of your body.  Every second the CNS is maintaining your life.  When the CNS has stress placed on it, the body begins to mal-adapt and become dysfunctional.  Regular check-ups via your chiropractor ensure that you have proper connection flowing through your CNS.  A healthy lifestyle begins from taking care of your CNS.  Being healthy is addictive.

Adjustment vs. Manipulation… Choose Wisely

Chiropractic adjustment vs. manipulation. What’s the difference? The difference is in everything that the Chiropractor does. Understanding spinal imaging and neurological testing is to comprehend what to adjust and what not to adjust. Something that is “moved wrongly” is considered a manipulation of the spine.  The difference between these words is based on the understanding and science of what they actually mean in the Chiropractic world.

What Is an Adjustment?

A Chiropractic adjustment is a specific force applied to the spine by the Chiropractor’s hands to facilitate the body in realigning a subluxation towards its proper position.  Proper alignment restores optimal nerve supply to the damaged tissues and cells of the body.  By removing neurological interference, the body can initiate healing without external intervention.

What Is a Manipulation?

Manipulation – “The action of manipulating someone in a CLEVER or unscrupulous way.”

A manipulation is a guess.  Some type of nonspecific, general, posterior to anterior spinal manipulation with no thought as to the location or direction of the spinal subluxation.   It’s an experiment on one’s spinal structure that is based off of subjective analysis.  Without objective analysis, over-diagnosing and improper care will continue.

Adjustment, Please!

Sure, people “feel” good after a manipulation because your body can be in a state of shock.  Imagine you have a sprained ankle and someone rips and pulls on it.  Immediately afterwards, your body goes into a state of protection and hormones surge all over the body.  An adjustment is not designed to make you instantly “feel” good, it is designed to make you instantly begin healing and adapt to create a normal physiological response in the body.  The Palmer School of Chiropractic introduced the use of x-ray in chiropractic practice in 1910.  The objective for doing so was to “verify or deny palpation findings and to verify or deny proof of the existence of vertebral subluxations.”

We don’t guess when it comes to your health, and neither should you!  Avoid being manipulated; get checked, and get the right adjustment for YOU.

Thinking Doesn’t Impact My Health…Think Again!

Think About What You Think About

Most people would suspect that physical trauma is the number one reason why people seek Chiropractic care.  But in actuality, the number one reason why people seek care is due to how they think, or emotional stress.  How you think directly impacts your health.  Early Chiropractic philosophy stated that “Auto-Suggestions” was one reason why people would seek care.  It was their inability to adapt to their own auto-suggestions.  Today we supplement the phrase auto-suggestions with stress.  Stress is what brings people into the office.  Our thinking process either creates positive affirmations or emotional stress.

The Chemical Break-Down of Thinking

When your body begins to become bombarded with obligations such as bills, taxes, and daily routines, internal changes occur that alter your thought process.  Chemically, your internal monolog will increase adrenalin, blood glucose, cortisol, and even cholesterol levels.  Serotonin will be the one chemical that actually decreases as a result of stress.  Serotonin, commonly known as the “happiness chemical”, is a huge factor in your mood and getting quality sleep to rest your body.

The Physiological Response to Thinking

The chemicals in the previous paragraph will begin to alter your brain activity and how your body responds.  So, how you think now will begin to impact your health in a way you can understand…in a way that you actually feel. Your quality of sleep is severely depleted, your immune system is compromised, heart rate will spike, and your blood pressure will begin to rise.  Along with these noticeable symptoms, you will also feel increased muscle tension and knots along the spine.  All of this as a result of your thinking!

Chiropractic Can Change How You Think

When the spine is properly aligned and free of interference, your thought process is limited in its negative abilities.  After receiving a specific chiropractic adjustment, there is a 99% correlation that your pre-frontal cortex becomes enhanced.  What does this mean?  The pre-frontal cortex of your brain controls planning, complex cognitive behavior, personality, expression, decision making, and moderating social behavior.  In simple terms, it controls how you think.  Specific chiropractic adjustments help the positive thought process.  Stay adjusted, stay positive!

In this day and age the status quo is living in the fast-food lane, meaning we want things to happen NOW.  The age of patience is becoming a lost art. Nobody is too busy to heal, it just comes down to your priorities and choices you make in life.  Chiropractic care is not designed to make you instantly feel better.  It is actually designed to instantaneously begin the healing process and allow your body to adapt to your stressors.  Simple enough? The First Trauma That Goes Unrecognized

When establishing health, always look towards the spine first.  Why?  The brain was the first “thing” that was made in utero. The Actual Cause Of Chronic Ear Infections

The actual cause of all dysfunction in the human body, such as an ear infection, is vertebral subluxations.  The vertebral subluxation represents all physical disease in the body.  How and why?  A vertebral subluxation limits the body from adapting and healing.  It places undo stress and tension on the central nerve system, which controls all life.  This then restricts all messages sent throughout the body, or in this case, the inner ear.  When the central nerve system is limited by what it can do, in-coordination occurs within the body.  In-coordination will cause neglect of tissue cells, resulting in symptoms such as ear infections.

5 Questions To Ask Your Chiropractor

With the ever changing “Health World” it often becomes hard to keep things in perspective of what health really is.  Many times we go around and around chasing different tactics of what someone thinks health is.  Even chiropractors have been known to blur the lines of what we should actually be doing for patients.  Chiropractic care is health care.  Why?  Chiropractors are trained experts in the detection and correction of subluxations of the spine.  That’s it.  A subluxation is the physical representation of all dis-ease in the body.  A subluxation will create dysfunction within every part of the body, thus destroying one’s optimum potential.  To learn more, ask your chiropractor!  When looking for a chiropractor, start with 5 basic questions to make sure there are no blurred lines with your health care.

Question # 1: Do You Take X-Rays?

X-rays provide a clear image of what to actually adjust, and more importantly what not to do for a patient.  It’s the 90/10 rule.  They provide specificity of 90% of what does not need to happen and 10% of what does need to happen.  X-rays allow chiropractors to not guess when dealing with your health.  To heal, your body requires what your body needs and not somebody else’s.  X-rays are unique towards you and your body’s needs.  Taking x-rays is not new.  In 1910 the chiropractic profession implemented x-rays as mandatory before even touching somebody’s spine (aside from pregnant mothers, babies, and other unique situations).  So, let’s not guess with your health when dealing with the most important part of your body, the spine.

Question # 2:   Do You Get Spinal Listings Off The X-Rays?

Spinal listings are what subluxations are called after a chiropractor does an analysis on x-rays.  Spinal listings are the equivalent to a blue-print of the foundation and how something was built.  X-ray analysis is essential to understanding how you are different from everyone else.  Understanding the x-ray component when finding a subluxation enables your care to be on point for what you would expect from a specific chiropractor.   The focus of the adjustment is to be as specific, precise and accurate as possible, addressing only the problem areas (areas of subluxation).   This is only directed with use of spinal listings.

Question # 3 Is Your Goal To Restore Normal Function?

Function Vs Feeling.  As a chiropractor our top responsibility is to make sure that your body is functioning at optimum potential by adapting to the stress that brings you into our office.  Feeling good just comes with functioning well.  Make sure you are seeking chiropractic care for function.  Going to the chiropractor only when you’re in pain is like robbing a bank and only stealing the lollipops.  It doesn’t make sense and chiropractic is not designed as an expensive Advil.  Our goal is to enable your body to do whatever you desire without LIMITS.  The sensory component (pain part) of a nerve is an immensely small portion of the central nervous system.  Nerve tension exists through subluxations without any feeling of pain.  Pain will often be the final straw that breaks the camel’s back.  Normal function enables your body to be healthy from the inside out.

Of course!  This thought process is equivalent to an orthodontist who puts braces on a pair of teeth.  Not only do you visit your orthodontist for check-ups while the braces are on but eventually you see teeth that are straightened out.  Then, after the braces are removed, you have to retain the straightening.  The same is done for chiropractic.  If you have regular check-ups for your spinal health, your body will adapt and heal.  When specific subluxations have been addressed and adjusted specifically for a period of time, the body changes.  Your adjustments will change based on your body adapting.  Post X-rays will allow your chiropractor to show you changes in your spine and how your body is adapting to care.

Chronic inflammation is becoming more of an acceptable form of  “sickness” in our society.  Typically we aim to eliminate a sign or symptom and assume we are okay.  This thought process never addresses the underlying reason for the disturbance in the first place.    In order to discover what inflammation is you have to understand how the healing process works.  To discover healing look first towards the tissue cell.

Irritated Tissue Cell = Chronic Inflammation

The tissue cell is the smallest part of the body.  Each cell is designed to give service to all parts of the body.  Cells allow transmission for healing and inflammation to occur.  There are lot’s of signs and symptoms associated with inflammation.  Healing begins with inflammation.

What is Chronic Inflammation

Your entire body is an organism that is derived of different parts.  Each tissue cell is specifically designed for a duty to perform for the organism (body).  Inflammation initially is seen as a positive act within the body.  This is a result of  some sort of pathogen, irritant, or other force that is disrupting tissue cells.  As a direct results of the initial attack the body triggers a defense response: inflammation.  Immune cells are then initiated to express their function to defend the entire organism.  When the body is not able to ADAPT  and overcome this initial inflammation, it then becomes chronic.

A Change In Lifestyle

While a healthy response is better than no response you still need to adapt.  Chiropractic care allows your body to properly adapt.  Chiropractic focuses specifically on the central nerve system which regulates all tissue cells.  Subluxations within the spine create dysfunction with the nerves.  Subluxations “squeeze” these nerve fibers basically creating downed power lines.  They might look happy, yet they are dangerous.  Address the spine first when looking to change your output of life.  A healthy spine is equivalent to a healthy body.  Life is easier.  Proper transmission lets you live at your max without chronic inflammation.
