The Quick “Fix” Of A Disc Bulge

This entire premise of a quick “fix” for a disc bulge is very condescending.  Disc bulge, disc herniation, disc out place, disc fixated, whatever or however you try to spin it, more than likely will have the same outcome.  One of the quick fixes currently available is to have a lumbar fusion.  Lumbar fusion will result in joining the lumbar vertebrae above and below the disc bulge.  So, the areas above and below the lumbar fusion will be working over-time to compensate for the fusion.  One could have a discectomy, which would completely remove the disc all together.  One could replace the disc bulge with an artificial disc, just like a hip replacement.  One can administer cortisone shots to their body, which will turn you into a super-hero for a short while, but possibly make things worse for you in the long run.

It seems like there are lots of options for the quick “fix” when it comes to the disc bulge.  Chiropractic is not a quick “fix.”  Chiropractic isn’t trying to cure your disc bulge, instead it is allowing your body to heal.  Healing does take time, and does allow your body to become stronger.  If you have suffered an injury to your disc, Chiropractic is not going to make it worse.  We cannot blow a balloon up, pop it, and then blow it back up again and pop it again.  The damage is already done.  Specific chiropractic care that is rendered to your area of nerve dysfunction is important to maintain your injury to make sure you are able to function!  A subluxation (nerve dysfunction, pinched nerve, or whatever you want to call it) is when the vertebra misaligns on the disc.  If a subluxation is persistent and chronic for a prolonged period of time, the disc will become vulnerable to injury.  Abnormal weight bearing on the disc leads to injury.  If you don’t get the subluxation checked, and adjusted if necessary, you could end up with a disc bulge.  Guess what?  The subluxation will still be there making things worse.  Have your nerves checked.
