Shift To Natural Healing… It’s Organic As It Comes

The primary objective in Chiropractic is to remove irritation to the central nerve system by securing normal structural relationships.  One must continually appreciate that in Chiropractic, The body through its inherent power or innate intelligence, is the ultimate deciding factor in restoring health.  Shifting your thought process of natural healing begins and ends from within the body first and foremost.  Sickness (Dis-ease) begins from within the body, and the complete opposite can be said that health begins from within the body.  When the CNS is properly functioning it is able to eliminate morbid material and adapt and restore the body on a daily basis.

We understand that certain disease processes more or less cumbersome according to the nerve disturbances and anatomical dis-relation to the body.  For instance, a subluxation exists within the spinal column that creates interference from the nerve fiber to the brain – body connection.  As a result the messages that are being sent from the brain to the body can be hindered in one of two ways; the messages can be too much or not enough.  As a result the organs, cells, tissues, and glands that the nerve supplies overtime can produce hypersensitive or hypo-sensitive responses.  Either way the nerve tone is creating an interference and the body is not in an ideal state.

By maintaining the proper structural relationship within the spinal column your health can be constantly maintained in an ideal state.  Every tissue, cell, and organ within the body is constantly analyzing both its internal and external environment.  With a clear and properly connected CNS the analysis will enable your body to adapt to the continual changing environments that you place it in.  We are witnessing a significant shift away from conventional medicine and towards an ongoing wellness lifestyle.  Natural and effective.

Being Healthy Is Not Addictive… It Is Rewarding

Your Body Rewards Itself

People often say on social media blasts that chiropractic is “addictive”.  Well… to put this slanderous phrase aside we would not be breaking glass by telling you that the opiate epidemic is gaining more and more fuel for being…. addictive.  Chiropractic is a natural healing art, science, and philosophy that is based on restoring normal tone between the brain and body connection, it is not additive.  It’s rewarding.  A great deal of confusion exists about the proper role of Chiropractic.  Chiropractic deals strictly with the central nervous system (CNS) the most important system in the human body (it created every system in your body).  Chiropractors look for irritated nerves that result from subluxations that exist along the spinal column.  These subluxations create undo stress upon the CNS and plague the body with a sympathetic dominance, fight or flight mode, state of health.  The nerve system that exits through the spinal column is an extension of the brain.  Every spinal nerve MADE, controls, and regulates every cell, organ, and tissue fiber in your body!

When interference exists from the brain/body connection via a subluxation it is the Chiropractors job to locate and specifically adjust the subluxation.  When the interfered nerve is safely and accurately adjusted it can correct the subluxation that is causing the dysfunction within the body.  The innate power within the body is responsible for healing and restoring the correct impulses from the brain body connection.  Why would your body not reward itself for positive activities and a process that it seeks to restore itself?  Your body is designed to heal naturally without the need for drugs. Chiropractic works to remove blocks to enhance your body’s natural healing ability.

What Actually Is A Chiropractic Adjustment?

By | Benefits of Chiropractic, chiropractic adjustment | One Comment

What Is A Chiropractic Adjustment?

To understand what a chiropractic adjustment actually is you should first understand what it is not.  What is different between an orthopedic manipulation or osteopathic maneuver? The difference is the dynamic thrust in the spinal column that is performed.  This is the identifying feature of a chiropractic adjustment.  A sudden motion of force in a specific manner distinguishes chiropractic from other healing disciplines.

What To Adjust?

The specific procedure applied to a subluxated vertebra is deemed an adjustment.  In order to know what vertebra or vertebrae have become subluxated, a full spinal analysis must be performed.  Thorough spinographs (x-rays) are used to detect exactly which area(s) need to be adjusted. Special instruments are used along the spine to detect temperature differences at various levels.  These temperature differences help to see if the area that is subluxated needs adjusted during a check-up. Also, active or passive palpation along the spine has its own role to play during assessment, when necessary.  With these components being utilized an accurate and precise procedural plan can be set in place to apply restoration of the subluxated vertebrae.

Does The Vertebra Just “Go Back In”

Without diving too much into the concept of the vertebra “going back in”, you must understand that the noise created via an adjustment is made by the surrounding joints and disc space.  The vertebra itself does not snap, crackle or pop. It is not bone on bone. This sound is caused by small pockets of air or bubbles which are in the fluid that surrounds your joints. When joint tissues are stretched during a chiropractic adjustment, the pockets of air/gas “pop” which creates that cracking sound you hear.  The dynamic thrust that is used to restore a vertebra’s position must be followed by sequential multiple adjustments.  With time, innate intelligence will utilize these motions of specific force to make the ultimate correction. Then… guess what?  You have to retain it with check-ups and accurate adjustments to ensure the nerve is in proper tone. There is no such thing as the magic adjustment that your spine “holds” or one that creates proper alignment for the rest of your life.  We understand muscle memory works in two fashions. Either you have positive muscle memory or negative.  Train the muscles well by having a central nerve system free of interference. #getchecked

The Birth Of Chiropractic

The Birth Of Chiropractic

September 18, 1895, marked the official birth of chiropractic.  This date is attributed to the founding father, D.D. Palmer, who gave the first recorded adjustment to Harvey Lillard in Davenport, Iowa.  Harvey Lillard had lost most of his hearing at a young age. The adjustment that D.D. Palmer performed on Lillard almost completely restored his hearing back to normal.  In the early days the principles of chiropractic were very simple. They consisted of merely locating bumps along the center of the patient’s back and forcibly reducing them with a shove or a push.  It was not until 1904-1905 that chiropractic was ingrained and seriously taught as a science, art and philosophy of the healing arts.

Back Up Just A Little Bit In Time

The first recorded adjustment was in 1895 in Davenport, Iowa.  However, spinal manipulation existed WAY BEFORE D.D. Palmer was around.  Enter Hippocrates. Hippocrates stressed the importance and teachings of writings we know today as aphorisms.  These aphorisms taught not to interfere or hinder, in any way, nature’s attempt towards recovery.  Hippocrates recognized the importance of spinal manipulation. Hippocrates taught that nature must heal and that the physician can only remove the obstruction (subluxation).  Much of chiropractic’s patient-centered approach can be linked to Hippocratic roots.

Fast forward to Claudius Galen, 130 – 200 A.D. He was considered the first to teach the proper positions and relations of the vertebrae.  Galen, like Hippocrates, recognized the importance of the nerve system. He stressed the importance to his students that the nerve system was the key to maximum health. Around the same time of Galen, Chang-Chung-King, referred to by medical science as the “Chinese Hippocrates”, stressed the importance of observing the patient as opposed to treating the symptom as for each disease.  The list of healers, philosophies and education goes on and on. Looking to spine is not a “new” trend. The primary focus of chiropractic is simply to remove the things that interfere with the body’s natural normal healing ability. #getchecked

Do You Have Patience To “Get Better”

Do You Have The Patience To “Get Better”?

Do you have the patience to get better?  As Americans we have a ‘fast-food’ mentality.  We want and need things NOW. Anything that takes time has to come with a warning label!  Who would enforce the warning label though? There are entire industries out there hoping that you are looking for the ‘quick fix’ and will feed on your need for speed.    We are becoming a society that expects the ‘quick fix’. However, we will almost always become disappointed with the results. What happened to patience? We must learn the virtue of patience.  With patience comes results…in everything.

Do Not Neglect The Time

Once you go to a chiropractor you will have to keep going for the rest of your life.  Have you heard this before? In a way, it is true. Your chiropractor should explain to you why this is.  Chiropractic care allows the body to heal and adapt to both external and internal stressors without taking medication, invasive shots, surgeries or other forms of western medicine.  Chiropractic care enables your body to accomplish this by focusing on the central nerve system (CNS). With a healthy CNS you will have a healthy body. It’s a fact. It’s proven. It’s science.  It’s the truth and no one can dispute the significance of a healthy CNS. What is required with chiropractic care? Patience and time. The body requires time to heal. For example, Think of how much damage is done to your tissue cells when you break a bone or get a cut on your hand.  Anything that damages the TISSUE CELL requires time to repair and heal. There is a lot to rebuild.

Patience Is Needed, Oh Tissue Cell

The tissue cell requires your patience.    Want to build muscle by lifting weights? Change the tissue cell.  Want to learn to play the guitar? Change the tissue cell. Want to change improper curves in your spine?  Change the tissue cell. We can keep going on and on about other examples, but what all of this points back to is the word patience.  When your CNS is not adapting correctly, the tissue cell learns negative memory. Change the memory with positive repetitive actions, e.g., chiropractic care.  This is why your chiropractor will tell you to come back again. #getchecked

We Can Help You With That

We Can Help You With That

We can help you with that.  Help with what?  Your bodies overall functionality.  People say that  “Chiropractors think they can cure anything.”  There is truth and misguided information in this statement.  First, your Chiropractor should be teaching you why and how they can help the body.  Second, the word cure is thrown around way to loosely and should not be used in chiropractic care. Understand the major premise to understand your Chiropractors thought process.

The Major Premise

Scientifically we understand that the brain and spinal cord, collectively called the central nerve system (CNS) regulates, controls, and even made every system and part of you. When a nerve exiting out of the spinal column has stress placed on it, immediately the nerve deviates off of normal tone. The organs, cells, and tissues that the nerve supplies will as a result begin to become hyper or hypo, thus damaging the body.  This “major premise” is not just recognized by Chiropractors. It is no different than what medical doctors have been taught in basic physiology.  The difference however, begins in treating the damaged organ and addressing the cause which controls, and coordinates the organ to help the body adapt and function properly.

Chiropractic Enables Your Body To Adapt

Chiropractic does not treat, nor cure the body. When a Chiropractor adjusts a specific area that is placing undo stress on a specific nerve the body immediately begins to release adaptive forces. Meaning? You begin to heal yourself. This once again is not a new “made up concept.” People are demanding more natural and effective forms of healthcare. You’d be amazed with what wellness and regular chiropractic care can do to enhance your health and performance. If your lifestyle does not include specific spinal healthcare, your body cannot function efficiently. By eliminating stress on the CNS you will have a positive impact on your ability to adapt and function. #getchecked

Be Wary Of The Man Behind Curtain… The Cover-Up

Be Wary Of the Man Behind the Curtain… The Cover-Up

Nowadays in our society we are told about cover-ups, patches, and band-aids that manly just do just that…cover up the problem.  The man behind the curtain relates to our so-called “health care” system.  The two truths that will always remain the same in our lives are time and health.  Unfortunately these truths can become blurred with false promises from the man behind the curtain, or our health care system.  The only way for our patients to clarify what time and health mean to them personally, is to go back to the fundamental truths.

The Truth

Health was created by you!  The very first entity that was developed and created was brain cellular tissue.  Then the brain was BORN!  Boom!  Next, the brain made a body, and it accomplished this development and creation via a “construction” highway called your spinal cord.  Collectively, the brain and spinal column is deemed your central nerve system.  You were born healthy.  “Look to the spine for the cause of disease,” -Hippocrates.  Taking care of your spine via spinal check-ups is advertently taking care of your health.

The Man Behind The Curtain

The man behind the curtain is the taste of things that “muddy the waters”.  What do we mean by this?  In our society the man behind the curtain will get you to believe that time and health are easily bought.  Fundamental truth number 1: You live your life through your central nerve system.  Every human experience you have is processed, coordinated, controlled, and CREATED by your Central Nerve System.  If you neglect your spinal hygiene, then any other therapy, pill, lotion, potion or external stimulant will be lesser or produce no benefit whatsoever.  Biased?  No.  Just the truth.  This is not a law that we make up, this is nature’s law.  Don’t get caught up in what the man behind the curtain says…listen to your body’s innate intelligence.

Get To Work

Time and health cannot be bought.  The super groin stretch that fixes your spine, the super diet pill, the 5 minute exercise burn that eliminates 20 pounds… it does not work.  We are not truth-seekers or whistle blowers.  Just use your mind and THINK.  We understand that we were born to be healthy and health is created from the inside out and from the top down.  Taking care of the fundamental truth will give you the best time that you have on this earth while providing the health to have the time.

Do You Have A Back Problem Or A Health Problem?

Do You Have A Back Problem Or A Health Problem?

Chiropractic care is unfortunately seen as synonymous with back pain.  While we do help with musculoskeletal back pain, you are missing the BIG picture if you only come in for back pain.  The BIG picture is understanding the central nerve system (CNS).  Chiropractic care is strictly focusing on establishing optimal potential with the CNS in your own body.

I Do Not Have Back Pain, BUT I Am Chronically Sick

This is obliviously a health problem that is attributed to your immune system.  Guess what?  Your immune system is controlled, regulated, and was even made by your CNS.  Guess what again?  Your CNS is housed and protected via your spinal bones and skull, which just so happens to be also called your BACK.  There are people out there who are chronically sick and do not have “back pain”.  It does not matter, the back pain is irrelevant.  If you are chronically sick, your CNS is failing to control and properly regulate the immune system.

Organs supplied by impinged nerves exhibit pathological changes and the more the serious the impingement, the more serious the damage. – Henry Winsor, MD.

A Back Problem Is a Health Problem

A subluxation creates tension and chronic irritation to a spinal nerve thus disrupting the brain to body connection.  Subluxations can cause symptoms such as allergies and GI issues that will eventually damage your organs.  Is pain present when a subluxation first occurs?  No.  Pain is the last symptom you will “feel” and it will be the first symptom to disappear.  This is why when people only visit a chiropractor for pain, they will only get temporary relief.  Basically a band-aid.  In order to address the health problem, you need to address the health of the BACK via the spine.  Specific chiropractic adjustments provide motion and stability via the spine.  The spine provides nourishment to the CNS.  Everything in the human body is designed for motion. Motion is more than just energy. Motion is life! #getchecked

Learn Why Patience Is Key To Healing Your Body

Patience is the Key to Healing Your Body

Teaching Patience to Patients

In this day and age the status quo is living in the fast-food lane, meaning we want things to happen NOW.  The age of patience is becoming a lost art. Industries will cater to this fast-food lane mentality and sell you products, trends, fads, and gimmicks, trying to convince you that something can happen in the NOW.  The “sale” that strikes a nerve with chiropractic care is emergency or urgent care.  Unfortunately my profession will sell you the quick “fix”.  Chiropractic care is not an emergency room or urgent care.  Chiropractic enables your body to adapt to the external stressors that plague it.  Feeling good just comes with the territory.  If you only come in to see the chiropractor when you’re in pain, then you should only eat healthy food when you get sick.  It takes time for your body to heal and adapt.  It takes patience.

The Truth about Patience in Healing

Nobody is too busy to heal, it just comes down to your priorities and choices you make in life.  Chiropractic care is not designed to make you instantly feel better.  It is actually designed to instantaneously begin the healing process and allow your body to adapt to your stressors.  Simple enough? Patience is fundamental with chiropractic because adapting to your stressors is a process, not an event.

The Father of Patience

“Healing is a matter of time, it is sometimes a matter of opportunity,” – Hippocrates.  Think of it this way.  If you work a 9-5 job Monday through Friday, and a good majority of that time you are sitting at a desk utilizing a computer, a substantial amount of physical and emotional stress is placed on your body.  Chiropractic care enables your body to adapt to the external stressors in your life.  If you have complete loss of patience you will just conform to the “status quo” and take medication.  Your body will always go through stress, but it’s your innate responsibility to promote adapting.  Adapting comes with understanding how patience is required in healing.  If you get a cut, a scab will form and you will heal.  If you break a bone, you will heal.  The same can be said for just about ANYTHING in your body when you give it time.  Chiropractic care paired with patience will promote adapting and healing within your body. #getchecked

Pediatric Chiropractic Care – The Establishment Of Health

Pediatric Chiropractic Care – The Establishment of Health

The First Trauma That Goes Unrecognized

When establishing health, always look towards the spine first.  Why?  The brain was the first “thing” that was made in utero. The brain then made the spinal cord and a protective coat of armor called the spine / spinal bones / vertebrae.  By accessing the health of the spine, we are accessing the entire health of the body.  The first trauma that your spine endures is the birth process.  This is often neglected and forgotten about because of the euphoric feeling that happens after a new born is brought into the world.  Early labor, active labor, delivery and the overall birth itself is stressful on a newborn.  We cannot stress enough the importance of pediatric chiropractic following birth.

Pediatric Chiropractic Care

If you want the best for your child, get them checked immediately after the birth process and continue from there.  A subluxation is an irritated nerve fiber that places undo stress upon the central nerve system.  A subluxation can be created through the birth process.  The only way to know is to get checked following birth.  Your spine is literally the backbone of your body’s ability to function properly. The focus of chiropractic care is to remove any physiological blocks to the proper expression of the body’s innate wisdom.  Pediatric chiropractic adjustments are gentle and noninvasive on your child.

The Numbers Are Not In Our Favor

Check out these statistics about the United States and the growing epidemics in our children.  These numbers are silent in nature and only hit home when it is our child that is affected.  Birth traumas that went uncorrected and neglected increased risk of autism five-fold.

  • Autism 1 in 45 children
  • Attention Deficit 1 in 10 children
  • Asthma 1 in 10 children
  • Allergies 1 in 4 children
  • Diabetes 1 in 4 children
  • Obesity 1 in 3 children
  • Major Depression 1 in 2 children

We are not saying that birth trauma causes these numbers or does not cause these numbers.  You have two choices…Stress Vulnerability or Stress Resiliency.  In our office and the community we are reaching, we are committed to Stress Resiliency Care in our office.  Pediatric chiropractic care is the foundation to health.
